Frank Bridge (1879-1941) composed totally 9 miniatures for piano trio. They were dedicated for Betty and Rachel Hanbury, who were his violin student and her sister. Each one is short and simple, but very enjoyable to play with not so high technique. Hornpipe is an English origin folk dance from the 17th century. It is usually in 4/4 or 2/2 time, but there are several styles. The famous Hornpipe in Water music composed by G. F. Händel is in 3/2. This Miniatures No.8, Hornpipe, is lively and energetic music in 2/2 time.
