I wrote this tune to go with another set of lyrics. I decided that those lyrics and this tune were not right together. Then my study group at church read a book about the 7 deadly sins and using the beatitudes to resist them. For some reason this tune kept going through my head, so I decided to put the beatitudes to it.

Pride - Poverty of Spirit (humility)
Envy - Mourning
Anger - Meekness and Peacemaking
Sloth - Hunger and Thirst After Righteousness
Greed - Mercy
Gluttony - Those Persecuted
Lust - Purity of Heart
