P. Petrof (b. 1961) graduated Music School - Stara Zagora, Bulgaria and specialty composition at prof. Al. Raychev's class in the State Music Academy of Bulgaria. Being a student took special grand award of composition in the name of Pancho Vladigerov. Took a specialized course at prof. Anatol Vieru - Romania. Since 1984 has taken part in the concert life of the country and in the anual festivals "New Bulgarian Music" as composer and a performer. Prize-winner of many national and international competitions; his works are performed at numbers of international festivals - Musica Nova, Musicexchenge, Musica Contemporanea, Moscow Autumn, International Composers' Tribune. His creative works are turned on symphonic, chamber-instrumental, solo, electronic and theatrical music; folklore transcriptions, music journalism. Petrof has been in a job of an accompanist and piano teacher in Blagoevgrad University (1989-91); a choir master of choirs in Sofia (1986-92); professor in polyphony at the State Music Academy (1990-94); a professor of composition (2003); DMA (2016). 1993-2016 lives in his native town of Stara Zagora, works in the National School of Music and Performing Arts as orchestra conductor; the chair of Foundation "Young musical talent"; artistic manager of the Festival "Days of Bulgarian Music - Stara Zagora". Since 2016 composer lives in Chicago, IL, USA.
