Born in Wales in 1943 and son of Salvation Army Officers in the UK. Became principal trombonist with the International Staff Band in London for 9 years travelling widely throughout UK, Norway, USA and Canada, Australia and New Zealand until 1968 . Then emigrated with wife Pamela to Australia. Performed as a concert soloist with Australian Broadcasting Commission and Songster Leader of the City Temple Songsters of the Salvation Army in Brisbane for 10 years. Pam and Ian have two children, Danielle and Marcus, and now six grandchildren all living in Melbourne. Ian and Pam established and operate B&B cottages (www.clarendoncottages.com.au) on their Sassafras property in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges just outside Melbourne. Now in semi-retirement, Ian still enjoys writing and arranging choral music, either with piano accompaniment or unaccompanied, predominantly of a religious nature.
