Music by American composer Larry Lockwood may be described as post-minimalist with a uniquely melodic style. Classically-trained, he holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Manhattan School of Music and a Doctorate from Cornell University. He studied with Mario Davidovsky and David Diamond, and has been awarded grants by numerous organizations. He founded and was Artistic Director of The New York String Ensemble for eight seasons. His extensive catalogue includes 5 operas, 12 concertos and sonatas for various instruments, multiple works for percussion, a Friday Evening Service, 5 orchestral works, and more than 115 songs. Numerous works have been posted to YouTube and to his web site: lockwoodmusic.com. Many of his scores are available at no charge from scoreexchange.com. Lockwood resides in New York City, and his works have been performed often in the tri-state area.
