Gottfried Reiche (1667-1734) was a master on the trumpet in Germany. He had been Johann Sebastian Bach’s chief trumpeter at Leipzig. He composed Abblasen and Turmmusik (Tower Music), which was played with wind instruments from a tower. His extant Tower Music is only one suite, 24 Neue Quatricinien. Every piece is excellent counterpoint music with plain notes as can be seen on the scores. It is a great gift for players including beginners who want to enjoy rich counterpoint music! Enough cue notes are deployed in the part-scores for ensemble-beginners.
