Joseph Wölfl is an obscure classical composer who studied under Leopold Mozart and was most famous for losing a piano duel with Beethoven, whereupon he left for London, where he spent the rest of his life. His concertos are well-crafted and stand up well when compared to Mozart’s piano concertos.
I listened to Yorck Kronenberg’s recordings of some of his concertos, but wasn’t able to find a score of this first concerto. Due to the clarity of the music of this era, however, I was able to create my own two-piano score of the concerto by listening to the recording. Enjoy!
