You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices. The second movement of Once in a Blue Tune alternates musical ideas, but not quite in a very polite way. The first musical idea expressed is a fast jazzy theme employing the (0,1,4) pitch class set as Movement I played primarily by the strings. However, before this idea is completely expressed it is interrupted by a schmaltzy waltz in the woodwinds. The two different musical ideas alternate with the entries becoming closer and closer together as well as louder and more intrusive. Finally, the piece disintegrates and the whole orchestra agrees on playing the same music at the same time (though not necessarily in the same key).
