This piece is a little hymn tune in four parts. The music came to me during a bright summer day and I pencilled it in my garden, under a tree. I decided not to add any lyrics as it seemed to go well as an instrumental piece. Initially set for the keyboard, I subsequently tried numerous instrumentations and found the string arrangement to be the most pleasing. The piece is meant to be simple, expressing the happy feelings experienced during that old summer day under the blue sky.
Revision: 6 April 2001, to correct metric problems. Second revision: 8 April 2003 with new layout, re-done bowing slurs and correction of double leading note problem mentioned in the SibeliusMusic review. The other two technical aspects criticised in said review (timing of modulation and differences between cello and bass lines) remain unchanged, as these things are just as I want them to be.
