This piece was originally written for cello and the Merlin M4, a guitar-dulcimer that is originally tuned, from lowest string to highest string, D-A-D. This piece can be played with any guitar-dulcimer, stick dulcimer, or regular Appalachian dulcimer. The tuning for the dulcimer part must be, from the lowest pitched string to the highest, E-G-D. Because of this particular tuning you can play the dulcimer part on the lowest three strings of a guitar as well.
