This piece is one of my very first ventures into the world of composition. In the summer of 2004, I was sitting at the piano adding a simple melody to a chord progression I had been absentmindedly playing, when part of the text Ave Maria popped into my head. This prompted me to begin setting the text based off the orriginal simple melodic fragment, which over the next 10 months I continued to add to in my spare time between work and school.
